NCHMCT JEE 2023 (Hotel Management)


The National Council of Hotel Management & Catering Technology has released the admission notification for NCHMCT JEE 2023 on February 2, 2023. The Institutes affiliated to NCHMCT offer B.Sc.(Hospitality & Hotel Administration) of NCHMCT, which recognised by the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi for awarding Degree. The Three-Year (Six Semester) course equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector.

  • Pass in Senior Secondary Examination (10+2)
  • Candidates who will be appearing in Class 12 exam in 2023, they can also appear for NCHM JEE entrance exam. They, however, will have to submit the proof that they have passed the qualifying exam by September 30, 2023, otherwise, their candidature will be cancelled.
  •  General and OBC categories, the upper age limit is 25 years
  • . In the case of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe, the upper age limit is 28 years.

National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology Joint Entrance Exam (NCHMCT JEE) is a national level hospitality entrance exam for admission in BSc (Hospitality & Hotel Administration). The exam is held annually and is conducted by NTA on behalf of the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT). The 3 years BSc (HHA) course is offered by NCHMCT jointly with the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). The NCHM JEE score is accepted by all the participating Institutes for admission to the BSc (HHA) courses offered by their respective institutions.

NCHMCT JEE scores are utilized by the Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs) for admission. There are about 21 central IHMs25 state IHMs,1 PSU IHM, and 27 Private IHMs that are affiliated to NCHMCT and offer BSc (HHA) courses and the admission is based on NCHMCT JEE.

In NCHMCT questions are asked in English and Hindi language. The total duration of the exam is 180 minutes and all questions are of Multiple Choice Type. 200 questions are framed from Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude, Reasoning and Logical Deduction, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, English Language, and Aptitude for Service Sector.



Step-1: Online Registration

Candidates can register online for the hospitality entrance exam as under:

  • Candidate’s Name/ Mother’s Name/ Father’s Name: Provide Candidate’s Name, Mother’s Name, Father’s Name as given in the Secondary School Examination or equivalent Board/ University Certificate in capital letters. No prefix in the name of the candidate is allowed.
  • Date of Birth: dd/mm/yyyy Provide Candidate’s date of birth as recorded in Secondary School Examination or equivalent Board/ University Certificate.
  • Mobile Number and e-mail Address: Candidates must provide their own Mobile Number and e-mail address.
  • After registering note the application number that is system generated.

Step-2: Complete the Online Application Form

  • Fill category details
  • Fill address with PIN Code (Correspondence Address as well as Permanent Address)
  • Provide the choice of Cities for Examination Centres.

Step-3: Upload legible scanned images

  • Candidates have to upload the following scanned images. Read the specifications and scan the images as mentioned to upload them.
  1. A recent photograph (in jpg/ jpeg file, size 10Kb – 200Kb) either in colour or black & white with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against white background
  2. Candidate’s signature (file size: 4kb – 30kb)
  3. PwD Certificate, if applicable (file size 50 kb-300 kb

Step-4: Pay the fee using the Payment Gateway

  • The payment gateway is integrated into the Online Application through Net Banking / Debit / Credit Card / UPI / Wallet/ Paytm.
  • Select anyone mode and pay the fee.
  •  Keep proof of fee paid safe with you.

Step-5: Print the acknowledgement form

  • After successful completion of Step-4, the Confirmation Page of the Application Form should be downloaded.
  • Take the printout of the same for future reference.
  • The Confirmation Page of the online Application Form could be generated only after successful payment by the Candidate.

The candidates are advised to ensure the following points before submitting the Online Application Forms:

  1. Whether they fulfil the eligibility conditions for the Test as prescribed under the heading ‘Conditions of Eligibility’.
  2. That they have filled their gender and category viz General/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ ST/Gen-EWS/ Male/Female/Transgender, in the relevant column correctly.
  3. That they have filled the City of Examination in the relevant column correctly.
  4. That the Person with Disability (PwD) candidate has filled the relevant column in the Online Application Form. Only PwD candidates have to fill this column and the others have to leave it blank.
  5. Whether they have kept a Printout of Application Form (confirmation page) for their own record.

Documents Needed for NCHMCT JEE 2023 Application Form

Candidates must be ready with the below-given things and documents before they start with the online application form:

  • A computer with proper internet connectivity
  • The particulars of a valid Government ID proof
  • The Date of Birth (as mentioned in Class X Board Certificate)
  • Govt Identity Details like Aadhaar Number (last 4 digits)/Election Card (EPIC No.)/Passport number/Ration Card Number/ Bank Account Number/PAN Number/ Other valid Govt IDs
  • Educational/Qualification details
  • Scanned clear passport photograph
  • Bank account details for payment of the fee
  • A valid e-mail Id as important communications will be made in this e-mail Id
  • A valid mobile number as important information via SMS will be sent to this number
  • Candidates are advised to take 6 to 8 passport size coloured photographs with white background.
  • The scanned clear passport photograph must have 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against a white background.

NCHMCT JEE Eligibility Criteria 2023

The eligibility criteria of NCHMCT JEE 2023 is 10+2 with English as a compulsory subject. Read detailed criteria of the exam below:

Age limit: There is an upper age limit for the candidates. The age limit is a defined category wise, check below:

  • Upper age limit for General, General (EWS) and OBC categories – 25 years as of July 01, 2023, ie, candidates born on or after July 01, 1997, are eligible
  • SC, ST candidates and Physically challenged candidates – 25 years as of July 01, 2023, ie, candidates born on or after July 01, 1995, are eligible

Qualification: There are no minimum marks that candidates need in their qualifying exam. However, they need to fulfil the following conditions:

  • Must have passed or must be appearing in 10+2.
  • English must be a compulsory subject.

List of qualifying exams: The list of qualifying exams are as follows:

  • Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination or State Boards of Secondary Education.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognised university.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University
  • Any Public School / Board / University Examination in India or in a foreign country that should be recognized by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) / Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

NCHMCT JEE 2023 Syllabus

There is no specific syllabus of NCHM JEE 2023 shared by NTA or the NCHM). However, based on the key indicative topics that are mentioned in the brochure of the exam and also as per the previous year question paper analysis, a list of topics from where the questions come majorly can be drawn.
